Commonly Asked Questions
How long does a trip check take?
Most trip checks are completed within an hour or two depending on what we find and how busy the shop is. We always recommend scheduling ahead of time rather than dropping in right before your trip, especially during busy travel seasons like summer and the holidays. That way we can make sure your appointment fits your timeline.
Is a trip check the same thing as a Utah state inspection?
No, they are two different services. A state inspection checks whether your vehicle meets specific Utah safety and emissions requirements for registration purposes. A trip check is focused specifically on road-readiness and goes deeper into the overall condition of your vehicle. Some things overlap, but a trip check covers a wider range of items tailored to keeping you safe on a long drive.
How far in advance should I schedule a trip check before my road trip?
We recommend scheduling at least a few days before your planned departure, ideally a week or more if you can swing it. That gives us time to complete the inspection and, if repairs are needed, get the parts ordered and the work done before you leave. Coming in the day before a big trip does not leave much room to address anything we might find.
